Henna powder is made from the dried leaves of Lawsonia inermis, a tropical shrub. For centuries it has been used across Asia and the Middle East as a natural dye for hair and skin.

Henna has antifungal properties that help combat dandruff and scalp issues. It contains tannins, vitamin E, proteins and antioxidants that may reduce premature greying, soften hair and support scalp health. When mixed with water, henna’s lawsone pigment binds to hair keratin, producing a reddish‑brown dye that can darken hair and add shine.

Adding coffee, black tea or hibiscus powder to the mixture adjusts the colour tone. Traditional recipes often include yoghurt, eggs, shikakai powder or fenugreek to moisturise the hair and counteract henna’s drying effect.

Pure Henna Powder (Lawsonia Inermis)

Natural hair colour:

  • Lawsone pigment binds to hair keratin, creating a warm reddish‑brown hue that covers greys and enhances natural colour.
  • Mixing with coffee or black tea deepens the shade.

Balances scalp and fights
dandruff:

  • Henna’s antifungal properties reduce
microbial growth and help control dandruff and scalp irritation.

Strengthens and softens hair:

  • The leaves’ tannins, vitamin E and proteins nourish the hair
shaft, leaving it smoother and more manageable.

Promotes hair health:

  • Regular use may slow premature greying and boost shine by coating each strand with a protective herbal layer.

Customisable colour:

  • Blend with hibiscus powder for burgundy tones or with indigo (sold separately) for a darker brown/black shade.

How to Use:

1. Prepare the paste:

  • Mix henna powder with warm water and a squeeze of lemon or apple cider vinegar until it forms a thick batter.
  • Cover and let sit overnight to activate the dye.

2. Customise:

  • Add a tablespoon of yoghurt, aloe vera gel or eggs to moisturise dry hair.
  • For darker shades, mix brewed coffee or black tea into the water.

3. Apply:

  • Wear gloves and apply the paste to clean, dry hair from roots
    to tips.
  • Cover with a shower cap and leave for 4–5 hours or overnight for deeper colour.

4. Rinse:

  • Rinse thoroughly with water (no shampoo for 24 hours), then condition as usual.
  • Henna colour deepens over 1–2 days.
  • For external hair use only. Henna stains skin and fabrics—use gloves and protect surfaces.
  • Perform a patch test 48 hours before full application to check for allergies.
  • Avoid contact with eyes. Do not apply to eyelashes or eyebrows. Not recommended for chemically treated or extremely dry hair without conditioning additives.
