If you are not hearing about Indigo powder and henna for the first time, then you might have heard somewhere or (read somewhere) that “You have to Use Indigo and Henna together to achieve the black colour.” And that, “You need to follow the two step process.”
In a nutshell, the Two Step Process means that you first need to apply henna then after rinsing henna, you apply Indigo powder for the best result.
Well, this is an updated version of the two step process, and has a much higher success rate. Our customers just love it.
What you Will Need
-
Organics Henna Powder
-
Indigo Powder
Recommended Liquids (warm temperature)
-
Water
Step 1: Prepare Henna paste and Indigo paste (separately) then Mix them together.
How to Prepare Henna Paste
-
Take 2 to 6 table spoons of henna powder and mix with one or more of our recommended liquids.
-
Allow the paste to sit for 2 to 3 hours for dye release.
-
Once the dye has released, you can add more liquid to make a paste the consistency of yoghurt (not too thick and not too runny). There is no need to measure the amount of liquid to use as each batch of henna can absorb varying amounts of liquid each time.
How to Prepare Indigo Paste
-
In a separate bowl, take 2 to 6 tablespoons of Indigo powder and mix with warm water.
-
Allow dye to release for 15-20 minutes.
-
Add enough water to make the paste the consistency of yogurt.
Combine the two Pastes in one bowl
Once the Henna paste and the Indigo paste are both ready, mix them together. Make sure you mix them on a 50:50 ratio. This means the amount of Indigo paste should be equal to the amount of henna paste.
Apply the Combined paste of Henna and Indigo on your clean hair
Apply the henna and Indigo paste to your clean (damp or dry) hair by sections starting from the front and moving towards the back, from tips to roots. It is advisable to wear gloves when applying henna, because it will stain your hands.
Let the paste sit for 2-3 hours then rinse it off.
After rinsing you will notice that your hair is brownish in colour. And if you have gray hair, some of your strands will have highlights of maroon.
Step 2: Prepare and Apply Indigo paste
Follow the procedure of preparing Indigo paste as outlined on Step 1.
Once the paste is ready, apply it generously on your hair, and if you have gray hair, concentrate the paste on your gray hair strands.
Leave the paste on for 2-3 hours then rinse it off.
After this step, your hair will be black.
Repeated application of Indigo and Henna will make the black quality on your hair richer. Bonus advantage, long term use of Indigo powder reverses premature graying.
